Application
FMU30 is used for continuous non-contact level measurement of liquids, slurries, white lime and coarse solids in simple applications. It cannot be used for measurement when foam is present.
Function
The sensor emits ultrasonic pulse signals directly to the medium surface. The pulse signals are reflected on the medium surface, and the reflected signals are received by the sensor. The instrument measures the time difference between the transmitted and received pulse signals. Based on the time difference and sound velocity, the distance between the sensor diaphragm and the medium surface is calculated.

Although the probe part of FMU30 has an IP68 protection rating, the transmitter has an IP66 rating
When installing the FMU30 ultrasonic level meter outdoors, a sunshade must be installed. If the FMU30 ultrasonic level meter is installed outdoors without a sunshade, when exposed to direct sunlight:
1. Temperature changes will increase ultrasonic measurement errors;
2. The maximum working temperature of FMU30 is 60°C; direct sunlight at noon will cause the temperature to exceed 60°C, leading to instrument damage;
3. In rainy days, the IP66 protection rating cannot completely prevent rainwater from seeping into the instrument transmitter, resulting in instrument damage!
